Zahner Inverted Roof

Anyone ever write a spec for this roofing system they would be willing to share? Robin@spectraspecs.com

If it were me, I would simply write a closed proprietary spec for the Zahner inverted system. After submittals, there’s not much else to say unless the owner wants to pretend the spec is open for substitution proposals.

I am not familiar with this product, but I took a quick look using an internet search.

Note that this is not an inverted roof, it is a metal roof with inverted seams. I think you could start with MasterSpec Section 074113.13 - Formed Metal Roof Panels and modify the language regarding seams and attachment systems using Zahner’s product data.

Your question has me looking for information about this inverted seam roof system. It appears to have two outstanding attributes - a smooth surface and a unique water management system. But there is very little information about it on the internet. I am going to look further into this and I will see what comes of it.

System appears to, essentially, be a rainscreen type system. So why not start with a metal roof panels master and cut-n-paste rainscreen language from wall panel master; I think that should get you 90% there? the rest can, as David initially said, be a closed prop spec by essentially referring to manufacturer’s standards, etc.?

Tell Zahner to get their act together and write a guide specification. You can refer them to me if you are so inclined, as I write specs of manufacturers.

I called Zahner’s (ZAY-ner) office in Kansas City this morning to see what is up with guide specs. They are very polite, but nobody is going to get anything from them by telling them what they should do. Two things they have perfected give them high-level flexibility in design - the water channeling system and the very flat seam. These are closely guarded and the representative indicated that only under terms of strict confidentiality do they share information about them. All fortifications and black boxes have ways inside, but this one seems impenetrable for now.
