I have some new questions for the Construction Specifications Institute.
We already know we have a bylaws violation from our recent election when the nominations chair (who was chair-elect at the time and now board chair) made the decision (at the 11th hour I understand) to run only existing board members for officer positions and reject the qualified candidates the nominations committee put forward.
One of those existing board members was the Gulf States Region Director (who had a year left on her term) who was chosen to be elevated to treasurer (not elected since no one else was allowed to run).
This would leave the Gulf States Region Director position open for the remaining year of the term that would need to be filled.
Since it was clear the existing Gulf States Director would win running unopposed, the nominations committee still did not put that Gulf States Region Director position on the ballot to fill that spot, leaving it vacant after the election.
NOW, I understand the Gulf States Region identified someone to fill that term and reached out to the board. They have been denied their choice.
INSTEAD, our board has decided to let the new treasurer (former Gulf States Region Director) fill TWO SEATS ON THE BOARD (Is that two votes?) even though the Bylaws say a person from the region should be inserted. HOW IS THIS OK?
I would love for someone to explain to me how this is not a clear manipulation of the election and board seats, a violation of the bylaws, and a violation of governance.
In a time of industry upheaval over CSI’s much disparaged Dynamic Standards efforts and high costs, can CSI afford any more bad optics?
Let me be crystal clear, I absolutely hate having to post this stuff here. I have much more important things to do. I am passionate about our organization and members and it breaks my heart to watch it all falling apart.
Believe it or not, some of us have done extensive research. The technology and artificial intelligence that our leadership say’s detractors and/or older members are scared of is actually a very handy tool. I invite you to do your own research. AI is super handy at evaluating tax returns and election processes and identifying potential issues. You just have to ask the right questions.
Many of our beloved CSI members are in the dark about what is happening, CSI is censoring detractors (growing by the minute) on the CSI discussion boards, and CSI is not giving us acceptable answers about this election or the very real and important questions we have about Dynamic Standards and business relationship with the for-profit subsidiary that was created by CSI (of which we are minority owner and clueless about until it was announced).
That leaves me this site as the only trustworthy option for reaching our members and inviting them to start asking the same questions we are all asking.
We need accountability from our leadership.
