I am involved with a project that consist of tornado shelter additions to existing schools. Due to the degree of difficulty of including plumbing utilities within these spaces, it has been decided to use a portable toilet within a private room.
What 6 digit specification section would one include this type of product?
And this is something like a portable toilet used in boats or for camping, right? So it’s a piece of equipment; that puts it in Division 11. Would it fit in the 11 3000 Residential Equipment category? (11 3600 or something like that?)
It’s a rented or leased piece of equipment, so why include it in a construction contract? Leave a space for it, and let the owner get it under a separate service contract.
I thought my post was clear in that this is a permanent part of the building, not temporary or rented. It lacks a plumbing connection and is portable.
Lynn, it is like what is used for camping and boats. So I guess it is equipment and not a plumbing fixture. If that is the case, Division 11 makes sense. However, I would not consider it residential equipment.
Maybe under Other Equipment as 119900 - Poop Equipment
I would consider this item to be a toilet fixture whether or not it’s connected to piping… such as a composting or incinerating toilet. 4-Specs has them under 22 42 70.
Unfortunately, I cannot at present access MasterFormat’s up-to-date section and numbers list–a foul up in their login system, I suspect.
