Anyone have any recommendations for an ADA doorbell strobe for a residence hall? Who typically should spec this?
I’ve used this one on a recent senior housing project. It was purchased and installed under the electrician’s scope, who probably sub’ed it to his fire alarm contractor.
My position is that if it is required to be installed by a licensed electrician, it belongs in the EE’s scope. Likewise for times that need to be plumbed in the plumbing sections.
I don’t always get my way, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
A CSI principle is that it is not the organization of the work into divisions or sections does not dictate who specifies or installs.
I don’t have direct experience with strobes, but can make a case for specifying the hardware in division 08 along with the door hardware. If it is hardwired, the connection might be specified in Div. 26 - Electrical.
