Woven Stainless Steel Fabric

The manufacturer provided specs for Section 05730, where would this convert to in current format, 057300 is Metal Railings?

05730 was “Ornamental Formed Metals” per MF95.

I would use 05 70 00 “Decorative Metal.”

I may have a similar issue on an upcoming project. Architect wants to use a tensile metal mesh on a facade (rainscreen). I am not really scratching my head yet, but I am wondering where in Division 07 I am going to put this sucker.

Jerome, Where is this mesh being used? Handrail/guardrail infill panel? Will it be part of a metal stair system?

Peter, That is not a rainscreen system. It is a rainsieve or rainstrainer system.

David, facade for Parking Garage.

The manufacturer sent a 16 division spec 05730, need 48 division section number.

“48 division section number”? I thought MasterFormat had 50 divisions…

48 DIVISIONS OF SPECIFICATIONS, THE REMAINING 2 DIVISIONS ARE DOCUMENTS.

Actually, its 49 divisions of specifications and 1 with documents.

Division 00 is only documents; Division 01 (I’m assuming you’re referring to this division) is specifications.

Actually I have never received any specifications for Project Manuals beyond Div 33. What is the title for Div 49?

ummmm go to the website masterformat.com redirects you to the current page. and 49 includes 00 so it stops at 48

but here you go

Division 49 is held in reserve.

Thanks Marc.

This material usually ends up as part of a railing or architectural screen assembly, so I have typically included it in the relevant section, treating it like welded wire or expanded metal railing infill panels

FYI, MasterFormat lists 10 82 00 - Grilles and Screens.
This is the category where I’ve put similar products like GKD Metals mesh products.

I agree w/ Richard Gonser, and typically spec parking garage facade systems in 108213 “Exterior Architectural Screens.”

Like T.J. Simons, I would spec woven fabric used in a railing guard in 057300 “Decorative Metal Railings.”

And I agree w/ Ron Geren – MasterFormat is a 50-Division system.

Thanks Richard, Jeffrey, I wanted to use Section 108213, just needed support from my peers.

We do not speak the names of the shunned sections.
