I don’t see a good section number/name in MasterFormat for landscape boulders. These are large natural stone boulders installed on grade over an aggregate base.
What section number/name have you chosen on your projects?

Interesting question, Rosa. Assuming the boulders are for decorative (not functional) purposes, I think its reasonable to specify it under 323000 Site Improvements.
For example, 324933 Landscape Boulders.
There’s really not a good fit, but Site Improvements seems a better home than 313000 Earthwork Methods.
Thanks, Dave, for your comments! I thought it should go in Division 32, as well.
I originally considered putting it under broad-scope category 323300 Site Improvements because I saw 323933 Artificial Rock Fabrications listed as part of 323900 Manufactured Site Specialties. We had some discussion in my office about “manufactured” versus “natural” site specialties. So, I was thinking maybe 323833 Landscape Boulders could work, with the thought that 323800 could represent Natural Site Specialties.
Putting it into a separate broad-scope category altogether would work very well…with even less hand-wringing on my part.
