ASTM’s version of UniFormat.
What is the difference between CSI UniFormat vs. ASTM Uniformat II? Isn’t there a copyright infringement issue?
There is a disk included with the UniFormat document that has a matrix of NAVFAC, 1998 UniFormat, ASTM, GSA, and 2010 UniFormat so that you can see the differences in detail. The major differences with UNIFORMAT II is the inclusion of INTRODUCTION at the begining, Z GENERAL at the end, and the organization of D SERVICES.
CSI and ASTM worked together on UniFormat back in the early 90’s. That relationship broke down later in the 90’s and ASTM published their own version and called it UNIFORMAT II with its own copyright.
ASTM subcommittee members along with all other interested parties were invited to CSI workshops and meetings as the 2010 edition was under preparation. Those efforts in trying to bring the various versions together were not very successful.
