Retired Architect?

Its difficult to imagine a sentence using the words retired and architect. Perhaps: The architect retired his drafting board when he bought a computer. Or: In his forties, the architect often retired at three in the morning because he couldnt stay awake for an all-nighter. Today I add a third simple sentence: I am a retired architect. The words and the concept still seem alien but I am very much looking forward to spending more time with a wife who, thank God, has the common sense and the financial skills that made a relatively early retirement possible for an architect who lacks both.

As mentioned before, I am indebted to participants of this forum for helping me look much smarter than I really am to colleagues and clients by quickly and correctly answering difficult questions and solving thorny problems. You guys truly are the best. I plan on continuing involvement with CSI (and here as well) so I hope to see many of you in Baltimore in September for CONSTRUCT, and let me be the first to invite you to St. Louis for CONSTRUCT 2015. Thanks again for your wisdom and friendship.

That is wonderful news George.

Hope you have a wonderful time enjoying your time off. When you get bored, you can always come back. We’ll all still be here.

Hope to see you in Baltimore and St. Louis.
Best regards

Congratulations, George. Now, how long before one of your friends still in practice says, “George, as a favor to me…”

Wow, big news.
I’m so glad you’ll continue your involvement with CSI and this forum. Thank you.

WAY TO GO, GEORGE! I’m jealous.

George, there are a few of us SCIP members who have made the leap. Although as specifiers, even though we’re retired, we’re not retiring.

If you don’t mind sending me your e-mail address, we can compare notes. I look forward to seeing you in Baltimore.

Dave-

I’ll shoot you an email in a moment. I had been thinking about rejoining SCIP after retirement - I was an affiliate member for a few years when I was employed by an A/E firm but let it lapse. Thanks for reminding me. I should try to get it done before Baltimore.

Lynn-

Jump in the pool, the water’s fine!

Takes me a while to get my feet wet (George, why can’t I find your new eddress? I thought you sent it and I saved it - hmmm - must be getting too old to work)
