I am having a problem sending a colleague Word and PDF files from my Windows computer to her Apple computer. Instead of the files she gets a file called “win.dat”. Does anybody know what is causing this problem and how to correct it? Thanks.
Two things:
- Stop sending your emails as Rich Text formatted emails. HTML is fine. This should stop it from happening in the future.
or
- In the body of your email, tell your recipient if the file is a .doc or whatever. They then can take your rich text formatted email with the Win.Dat file, and simply save it their folder as a .doc or whatever.

Thanks Nathan. I will pass along the information.
You can also “convert” the file at this website.
