I am still using Masterspec in word format. I know they stopped support of Masterworks, but I never really used it anyway. Lately, the formatting of my word files is all “wonky” with extra spaces showing up between random paragraphs and sentences. Anyone else seeing this?
What is the version / versions of MasterSpec that you are using? Downloaded through the SpecPoint portal? Or the last full Word release (that I have at least) with Date modified of 8/24/2025? I’ve already noticed some issues with docs downloaded through SpecPoint, especially for those of us still accustomed to using Masterworks.
These are all older files - not downloaded from Specpoint
I have been using Masterworks to write Office Masters in Word to be imported into Specpoint. To get the formatting correct I first save as docx. I then go into Developer and attach the Word Template for Masterspec. ( you can get this from specpoint) You can then open the styles bar. This allows you to make sure the styles are all correct or you can use it to fix a style.

Deltek may be able to turn access off. Relying on that tool may not be an option.
Try going into FILE / OPTIONS / ADD-INS / COM ADD-INS: Uncheck Masterworks Paragraph Builder, then: FILE / OPTIONS / ADD-INS / (Drop down) Word Add-ins / Uncheck UserSustain.dtm.
Word runs much better without these selected. You can turn them back on selectively when you really need them until they are disabled.
We use our own sustainability insert language and our own AI generated (and checked) manufacturer/product lists that we believe are more appropriate than those presented by MasterSpec.
If needed, I have had good luck using ChatgGPT (paid version) to generate Microsoft Word macros to accomplish editing functions for our subscribers. You may be able to replace MasterWorks functionality using AI to create macros.
