I once heard that there are only four kitchen appliance manufacturers (probably close but an oversimplification) that private label a number of different brands. For example Kenmore was not a manufacture. Their appliances were made by whomever got the deal with Sears.
Do you know what manufacturer makes what brand appliances? (GE, Electrolux, Whirlpool, Maytag, LG, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Amana, Jenair, Samsung, Haier, Bosch, etc.)
And just now learned this about Whirlpool, thanks to Wikipedia (and if it in Wikipedia, it MUST be true!):
Admiral-branded appliances are sold exclusively at Home Depot, the brand was also formerly sold at Montgomery Ward stores until the company’s demise in 2001.
IKEA branded appliances were made for IKEA (North America Only)
Kenmore branded appliances were made for Sears. Although other designations were used, 110. is the common first 3 digits, of a model number, of a Kenmore product built by Whirlpool.
In the absence of any better source, I look at Consumer Reports’ reviews of residential appliances. We typically list three manufacturers and write a descriptive specification, though, as model numbers almost instantaneously go out of date.
