"Floodproof doors"

I just seem to be full of questions lately …

I wasn’t sure if this should go here or under specifications discussion so closed my eyes and picked one.

We have a project where the project architect wants to specify floodproof doors at a couple of locations that are below grade (separates a large mechanical room from occupied space in a hospital). Has anyone specified anything resembling that? What kinds of things should we be looking at to make sure we have a complete system … gaskets come to mind immediately, but what else?

No but Donald Trump just bought a couple see story with picture Newsday | Long Island's & NYC's News Source - Newsday

You may find some good ideas and direction in the Corps of Engineers booklet on floodproofing buildings. This is reference, as I recall, used in the FEMA insurance and mapping activities-- and may well contain requirements for the openings IF flood insurance is to be engaged.

Tracy, check out Presray as an example. 083960 - Flood Barriers on 4specs.com

We used Presray successfully for a project on the harbor in Baltimore.

try overly manufacturing company (on 4 specs under specialty doors) overly.com; pressure resistant doors. in your case watertight doors. excellent company.

We specified around Walz & Krenzer for watertight doors for the National World War II Memorial; Overly and Presray also were listed. These were the kind of doors found on ships.

Tracy, if you post your e-mail address I can send you the section we wrote.

Thanks, Dave!
