What is your reaction to the recent Town Hall? And where do CSI members go from here?
Every post I make on the CSI forum is sent automatically to the moderator. I have not been tracking to see if every post is published. When they are it is usually 3 days after I submitted. It’s a bit frustrating.
Clearly a preprogrammed effort, no one is fooled.

I suppose that is true, like anything new. Retraining or reprogramming the brain.
I was on the CSI Forums today and noticed that the number of “members” in CSI-Connect had dropped from over 6,000 in February to 5.6k today. I believe - without evidence of any sort to back this assertion - that Mark Dorsey has been using the CSI-Connect forum count instead of a real count of membership when he makes a public claim for size of CSI. I have been guessing 4.5k as a real number. Again, this is just a supposition.
But if I am not off base, or even if I am and forum count = member count, have we lost 400 members since this Dynamic Standards stuff became public??? Enquiring minds want to know…

If you do the math from the FY2024 annual report (most recent available) the number is 3.655. Here is what I wrote to Dorsey after MSR.

Hi Mark,
Congratulations on the explosive CSI membership growth. It was great to hear you say at MSR that CSI has 6,000 members and 10,000 CSI Connect members.
From the FY24 Annual Report posted on the CSI website, there were only 6,000 CSI Connect members at the end of June 2024. That is a 67% increase in only 19 months. The annual report does not show the number of members, but by calculation:
$1,370, 728 member dues Ă· $375 dues per member = 3,655 members as of June 30, 2024.
So, CSI membership grew 64% in the same period with an average 123 new members per month. And each of the 106 chapters gained 22 new members on average.
I hope the numbers are correct and that FY25 annual report includes dues revenue of $1,924,000 based on 5131 members pro-rated from the growth you reported.
Any organization would be thrilled with this kind of growth.

There are some interesting posts on the Fellows message board on CSIConnect. There are clearly different standards for censorship in the Fellows area as opposed to the more public board.

@David_Stutzman Regarding your message to Mr. Dorsey following MSR:
If the number of emerging professional (less dues $), retired (significantly less dues $), and emeritus (no dues $) CSI members were factored in, I think that would increase the total number of members calculated, but probably not to 6,000, though Central PA Chapter alone had 11 out of 56 total members in Feb 2026 who are in the retired/emeritus categories - not a small number.
I haven’t paid much attention to CSI’s annual reports before the current CSI Dynamic Standards brouhaha, but I am surprised that the FY2025 report is not available. Is this kind of delay between the end of a fiscal year and the posting of the report typical? I would have thought the FY2025 report would have been made available no later than the annual business meeting at the CSI National Conference last fall.
Dorsey never replied to refute my math. So I imagine the calculation is not far off. I was promised the annual report would be posted in March. I asked our region director for the report in April. He passed me off the contract staff. No response yet. I like the idea that the report should be available by the annual meeting, but this would be before the tax filing deadline for CSI - so probably is not realistic. I am not sure how directors can do their job effectively without the annual reports. Waiting nearly 2 years from the close of the fiscal year seems excessive.
I think by the affiliation agreement Institute only need to perform at their discretion while regions and chapters are obligated to perform.

Membership numbers should be readily available to the membership since they do not fall under the “…exception of personnel or other matters of a sensitive nature” stated in the BOD operating manual. Membership numbers, especially for an organization as tech savvy and tech reliant as CSI, should be immediately available with a simple data base search query. If our Board of Directors will not make them available, they are manifestly in dereliction of their governance duties to membership. If our Board of Directors cannot make them available, they are manifestly incompetent in their information technology protocols.
