Concrete sealers resistant to hair dye

This is a new one for me.
Our client is a high-end hair salon. Polished concrete has been selected for floor finish and the concern about hair dye, which is apparently very aggressive stuff, staining the polished concrete.
Anyone here have experience with concrete sealers for this kind of application?

I feel sorry for the technicians who will have to stand on the concrete all day. But anyway…

I have lots of opinions but no direct experience. Still…

Use black iron oxide pigment in the concrete so stains are not as apparent.

In addition to sealer, apply sacrificial varnish or wax that can be stripped and replaced.

Lay down tarps before dying.

One more item for the Bucket List, huh? “Lay down tarps before dying.”

Thanks for the giggle

John, this is definitely a strong concern. In the set of notes I keep on polished concrete, the very first note is “Polished concrete is NOT recommended for areas subject to staining.”

Get in touch with a rep for polished concrete finishing systems. I recommend Euclid or L&M. In their arsenal of hardeners, densifiers, and concrete dyes, they also have stain guard sealers. These are replaceable coatings that provide an added level of protection.

If they don’t have something appropriate, contact Neogard since they also have clear coatings that will protect concrete from staining and chemical exposure.

George, You got me.

BTW, I spoke with my hair stylist. She says:

It would be cruel to make a stylist work without a cushioned mat on which to stand. And.

Colorists should be trained to clean up promptly after each head.

Michael - My sense is that the folks who are making this decision have not actually styled hair for some time and you know how it is, the further you are removed from doing a task, the easier that task becomes.

John, perhaps have the designers find out the most popular dyes used and choose those colors for the polished concrete.

That way they don’t have to worry about future staining. It will all just blend in.

To John’s point,

Many of the same people believe that the most important day in the life of their project is the day the photographer comes to take the portfolio photos.
