I have the following clause in my spec section 07 42 13 for Metal Wall Panels.The Contractor is questioning the area of application .Please advise whether this can be counted as facade vapour barrier or this is applied only to metal surfaces??

I include bituminous paint in all my exterior aluminum spec sections, i.e. aluminum railings, louvers, grilles, stairs, fenestrations, flashing, etc to be used wherever aluminum is in touch with dissimilar materials, esp cementitious materials.
John, et al I’ve been led to believe not all paint applied to aluminum will provide necessary and code required protection from corrosion. Is this a matter of paint thickness or type? I’ve also been told that dipping the aluminum in bituminous paint should not be permitted. I typ spec coating surfaces with 2 coats of bituminous paint for a minimum of 16 mils DFT.
Over the years I have received complaints from contractors that working with bituminous coatings is too messy. Since I have never applied bituminous products to a vertical application I can not confirm the messy comment, does messy impact the performance of the product? I am curious as well as to what alternatives exist. In the past I have been told that the lease costly effective solution is bituminous paint.
Almost all of the aluminum I specify for interior use is painted with polyester or fluoropolymer over chrome conversion treatment, there has never been a corrosion complaint on interior aluminum. Usually corrosion becomes a complaint for aluminum railing posts embedded or mounted on to concrete, esp at balconies.
At least one railing manufacturer is offering a stainless steel mounting embed for aluminum railing posts which appears to be very effective, but expensive.
