This was the headline on internet news today: “Big 12 ditching slippery glass floor for hardwood for rest of tournament.”

I never even knew that glass gym floors were a thing! It looks like a company called ASB GlassFoor is one manufacturer, though I am unsure of the manufacturer of the floor in this story.

The reason for the glass floor is all the fancy graphics. If I were a basketball player, I would find the light show beneath me distracting.

My guess is that MFMA is thrilled with the news!

Sometimes old technology is better.

I dimly remember something about the rebound or spring of a wood floor being important, too. I could be wrong, but I don’t think glass would have that much rebound.
