OK - by a show of hands who's going to Vegas

I just joined SCIP as an affiliate and they didn’t tell me about the beanie… Is that with or without the propellor?

I, too, received my shirt from Colin and won’t be in Vegas, but I’ve promised to wear it to our region convention at the end of May in Winnipeg. I’ll help wake up the Canadian contingent.

And as a new SCIP affiliate, I don’t have my beanie, my umbrella hat, or my propeller hat - probably just as well!

Y’all have a great time - congratulations to the future “F” CSIers - I’ll be clinking champagne glasses in spirit.

What Beanie? I actually have all my hair, no bald spots here, the only thing going for me amongst my peers, so I seldom wear hats, accept when I’m out fishing.

I will be there with bells on! Well not really bells.

(BTW, Aren’t you guys going to wish me happy birthday today?)

Cudos David, and many more!!!

See you all there! Just look for a short fat woman with curly dark hair shot with silver, thick glasses and one hearing aid!

Hey all spec friends!!!

I am sooo excited about seeing all you guys and gals again in Vegas!!!

I will be arriving in Vegas on Tuesday and I will be sporting my fav new shirt on Wednesday as well. I look forward to all the endless meetings and great social gatherings.

Hear me now and listen to me later Vegas first timers. Size is deceiving in Vegas. Really. I mean it. It might look like you can walk a couple of blocks to get to your destination, but it ends up being a 40 minute walk! Mirage. Mirage. Mirage. The land is so flat and the buildings are so huge that it causes your brain to think “Oh that is just right there - I can walk there - instead of paying 10 bucks for a taxi.”

40 minutes later your laying on the sidewalk out of breath and praying for one of those exterior hotel water misters. Please take my advise. Use taxis when possible!

Also - this goes without saying every year, but just in case, ladies, please wear flats or sneakers. You will be on your feet a lot!!! Unless you prefer walking the convention floor in heels all day long. Tired feet! Not for me.

Melissa Aguiar

I’ll be there - with 4Specs shirt and membership check for SCIP. It’ll be my first week as an independent consultant. Great start - friends and colleagues, casinos, and $3,000 in overhead expenses before I generate any billings!

Ok, so can any of you LV regulars recommend a good breakfast joint? And what’s this with all the buffets, I’m on a diet (for the rest of my life)?

I’m on it! Shirt in hand (actually on back)

Hey what about these beanies! I want one with a propeller (and one without for formal ocassions.)

I have my shirt too. Hat? Mine is pointy and I have to wear it when they make me sit in the corner.

Breakfast? I think the Mirage has an awesome breakfast buffet. All you can eat, with shrimp, crab legs, bottomless mimosa’s!! Yummmm.

And Phil, $3,000 bucks? You high roller you. Is that for the black jack table? Me? I’ll be at the Texas Hold-em table. (Only during non-convention hours of course)

I will come too. New SCIP affliate, tall fat guy, thick dark glasses, looks like Garrison Keillor (worse for him), working on shaggy gray hair, 4Specs shirt (thank you Colin). I am adding a sign for the back…

“Kick Me, I am on SPUTT”.

If SCIP offered propellor beanies, I’d buy one.

Hey,I was just kidding about the SCIP beanies, but with all the new affiliates who have posted here expressing interest in one, maybe they should jump on the idea as a marketing tool.

I, too, will be attending, blue shirt and all (thanks Colin).

Looking forward to meeting all the contributors to the Discussion Forum, to finally put faces to all the names.

Safe travels, everyone.

I always wondered what happened when those vastly experienced, professional looking spec writer broke loose and became unshackled and got away from their cubes.

It is hard to imagine all those “very professional posters” in the array noted above, but I guess fun exists in all at some level.

Not sure this is a pretty picture-- but it sure sounds like fun.

Safe travel all-- and good luck at the tables [food and otherwise], the wheels, and slots.

Sincere congratulations to the wonderfully accomplished new FCSIers.

Sincerely,
Those stoking the home fires

PS. Not that I am any sort of guru, but you might check my piece about Vegas on the SpecReflections section of Press Room on the CSI web site, just as a precaution before you set sail.

Ralph-

Look for the “Spec Writers Gone Wild” video, sure to be advertised on late night TV next month.

George

definitely NOT a pretty picture - don’t let small children view it!

George-- you devil, you!!!

But hey, the vast majority of the members won’t or can’t make Vegas so this could be a source of some real revenue-- and with a sequel every year!

'Course from what has been expressed above, we may have daily “film at 11”!

Ralph
Words of wisdom, to consider, won’t be gambling in Vegas, but than every day seems to be a gamble of some kind.
Okay, well I’m off tomorrow at 5AM as I have to fly to Fresno first and than will be driving across to Vegas - crazy, I know, but my wife and I don’t get much quality time unless we are in a car driving…haven’t yet figured out how to write specs while driving across country…I expect to meet all you SCIPers first on Tuesday and than everyone else on Wed-Friday, will look for the blue 4specs shirts, the crazy hats, beanies, and oh yeah the guy with the yellow vest…if anything it should be interesting.

It looks like I’ll be joining Lynn (not at her conference) but in supporting 4Specs from afar since Colin so graciously gave me a shirt as well, even though I will not be able to attend the convention this year.

Looking forward to hearing the scoop about new products, issues, and, of course, the Annual Meeting.
