First we had to know products…now we’re supposed to know the percentage of recycled content and is it pre or post…and the weight of VOCs in products by grams per liter. Give me a break. Seems like the world worked a lot better when cooling systems had freon and DDT did the trick out in the lawn.
Don’t forget the carbon footprint.
Carbon footprint - isn’t that what happens when you step in the ashes of the fires of all the old-growth trees? (as you slash and burn the rain forests)
I look at it this way… the more I know, the more valuable I am to the project team. Translation: job security and higher fees!
oh… have you looked at the PHAROS system? that includes calculations for social benefit as well. when we get to a rating system that includes “how nice people are” I think it will be time to retire…
Robin:
And soon you’ll be able to get bigger bucks by suing architects whose practice isn’t prefect.
I plan to be on the side of the good guys (the architects!)
Robin,
Those higher fees probably come from people that drive Hummers. In our firm I think most of the people on our green building committee drive SUVs.
You gotta do something with all those old trees. As they begin decaying, isn’t it CO2 that they release into the atmosphere? Those nasty polluting trees should be cut and used for exotic paneling for all the nice peoples’ homes.
PHAROS system?? I prefer the PHILISTINE system meself.
Why are you all so cynical? Have a drink, relax. Sarcasim is not really ever that funny. If you are really worried about killing the planet, worry about something else. Like, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a totsie roll totsie pop. You will enjoy it more. You would really be better off if you sat in the woods and really listened to the trees rustle or a creek sing. That’s living, and besides, the rest is what it is. Try some pancakes with maple syrup, that always makes me feel better. Hug your family, hug yourself, hug a tree if you have to, it’s just too good to let it go by.
